The laser system has a high-power laser for machining workpieces with invisible light as well as an auxiliary laser of lower power which is used for adjusting and produces visible light. In order to alternatively direct the beam (1, 1'; 5) of the one or the other laser onto the workpiece (3), a plane mirror (2) displaceable parallel to its mirror plane is arranged which in its one end position clears the course of the beam of the one laser in the direction of the workpiece and in its other end position reflects the beam of the other laser in the direction of the workpiece. <IMAGE>
