PURPOSE:To enable both of a highX-ray quantum detection efficiency and a high resolution to be attained at the same time by installing a window for incident X- rays in such a manner as to locate it facing the photoelectron-discharging screen through a part of an encircling case placed sufficiently apart from said screen. CONSTITUTION:A window 12' for incident light is provided in an area (A) which face a photoelectric screen 18' through a part of an encircling case 10' directly facing the screen 18' so that X-rays become incident upon the photoelectric screen 18' in contrast with the conventional X-ray image intensifier. Light emitted from a CsI layer 16' installed on the side of the surface for incident X-rays, because of the short distance between the layer 16' and the photoelectric screen 18', stimulates the photoelectric screen 18' to a great extent and is spred only in a small degree by optical scattering. Such an effect is specially effective since a large quantity of emission is produced near the surface for incident X-rays or near the photoelectric screen 18'. Consequently, a high luminance and a high resolution can be attained at the same time. |
