PURPOSE:To display a three-dimensional image with high definition by performing subsampling in consideration of visual characteristics when a three- dimensional television signal is band-compressed and then transmitted and recorded. CONSTITUTION:For example, the output RL of left camera is limited so that the occupation frequency band of a difference signal R is a half, and the number of samples of it is reduced to half. Then sampling circuits 28 and 30 are used to perform the subsampling in which alternate samples are thinned out. Then the thinned-out sample information is transmitted when a next frame is transmitted. This obtained difference signal is compressed on the time base to form a signal with a 6 MHz band, which is put together with a left camera signal on the time base. Similarly, time-base composite signals are obtained for channels G and B respectively. Those signals are encoded by an encoder 42 to perform transmission to a transmission line and recording to VTR. |
