PURPOSE:To obtain sure operation in the stage of starting photographing by providing range finders of an active system and a passive system and actuating the range finder of the active system at the start of photographing. CONSTITUTION:The object image obtd. by an image pickup tube 6 from a phototraphing lens 1 of a video camera, etc. is converted to a TV signal and is processed. The aperture condition of the tube 6 is detected by a circuit 7 for detecting the luminance of the object and the luminance signal is inputted to a sequencer 8. The position of the photographing lens is detected by a circuit 9 for detecting the position and when the information on said position is inputted to the sequencer 8, the sequencer 8 operates any among an active range finder 10, a passive range finder 11 and a fixed focus device 12 by the combination of the luminance signal and the position information. The range finder 10 is actuated at the start of a distance measurement, by which the sure operation is assured even if the lens 1 is first in the focusing state of either long or short distance. |
