Water is contained in a hollow body (1), which possesses a handle part (6). The water can be conveyed by means of a pump (3) to a sponge (2). Fixed to the underside of the appliance is a pad (4) of absorbent sheets. When a panel is wiped, the sponge (2) is moistened through from the inside by means of the pump (3). After the wet-wiping, drying can be undertaken by means of the lowermost sheet of the pad (4). This sheet can be torn off after use, a fresh sheet being exposed. <IMAGE>
