Photographic roll film is transported through the tank of a continuous developing unit by moving along an extended helical path defined by a stationary drum which is installed in the tank and has a cylindrical wall carrying a helical rail formed with outwardly flaring helical channels for the edges of roll film. Driven transporting rollers extend into openings provided therefor in the drum to engage the edges of film and to transport it in the channels.
