The invention relates to a device for discharging hot solid carbonisation residues of heterogeneous composition from a hermetically sealed pyrolysis unit, in particular for the carbonisation of refuse and other discharge materials. To obtain continuous permanent operation with a simultaneous hermetic sealing of the system from the atmosphere, the discharge device according to the invention has a lock (9, 11) at the funnel-shaped bottom (8) of a drop shaft (6), with a downstream screw conveyor (14). In a hermetically sealed chamber (11) of the lock, there is a spray device (12), by means of which the hot carbonisation residues are sprayed in order to bind the dusty particles and at the same time to lower the temperatures. A pump (16) for thick material, discharging into a bunker, is connected to the screw conveyor (14). <IMAGE>
