The invention relates to a valve which is, for example, driven electromagnetically and the movement of the valve member of which is influenced by means of a permanent magnet. For at least one of the end positions of its valve member, the valve has stop faces between the valve member and the housing, which faces can be crossed by the magnetic circuit of the permanent magnet, with the result that, when the faces are resting against one another, an optimum retention force, dependent on the force of the permanent magnet, is obtained. Upon actuation of the valve member out of this stop position, this force of the permanent magnet must be overcome, leading to a gain in acceleration work. In addition, rebounds, which would result in at least a brief separation of the faces, are prevented upon impact of the stop faces. <IMAGE>
