Figure 1 shows a press 1 which is suitable for paper, waste and refuse, the containers 13 of which rest on a base frame 3 together with the pressure ram 28 mounted in a portal 10. This press 1 can be moved to and fro as required using a fork-lift truck 44, the tines 45 of which engage with the profiled longitudinal beams of the base frame 3. The lifting cylinder of the pressure ram 28 is connected to the hydraulic system of the fork-lift truck 44. <IMAGE>
