In this rotary drum, an internally toothed rotor ring (2) is supported on the drum casing (1) via supporting plates (4) which are welded in the region of their axial ends (5, 6) to the drum casing. In order to isolate tensile stresses due to thermal expansions of the drum casing (1) from the supporting plates (4) and its weld seams, these supporting plates are split in the region between their two axial ends (5, 6). <IMAGE>
