A control circuit for a tailgate has various magnetic components with magnetic coils, such as a magnetic switch (27) for operating a hydraulic motor (13), relays (14) for solenoid valves and further relays (36). Control circuits for tailgates are to be attached in vehicles with different battery voltages, such as 12 V and 24 V. The magnetic components are configured in such a way that they can be operated at the two aforesaid voltages. For this purpose, they are designed in such a way that at 12 V they produce the minimum required attraction force and, on the other hand, they are so well cooled that at 24 V they are not destroyed by the higher heat loss. Control circuits which are designed with such magnetic components can be used in any vehicle irrespective of its battery voltage. <IMAGE>
