This is a dry fuel burner 1, in particular for cookers, in which the burning portion of the piece 11 of fuel is always maintained at the same size by resilient pushing against a stop 28 and by shielding the other parts of the fuel. The piece 11 of fuel supplied for burning in each case is secured from dropping down by resilient members 34, so that fresh pieces 11 of fuel can be refilled without risk, even during operation of the burner. <IMAGE>
