The outer face of the plate-like coating element comprises a plate (1) with scales (2) separated from each other by blind grooves (3). The plate (1) has flanges (6, 7) on two contiguous edges (4, 5) and notches (10, 11) on complementary edges (8, 9). The grooves (3) extend from the flange (6) on one portion of the height (h) of the plate (1) so that the scales are interconnected at the base thereof by a continuous band (12), projecting on the edge (5) of the plate (1) with a protuberance (13) on the flange (7). The vertical joint may not only be covered in a major portion by two adjacent coating elements, but it may also be almost entirely concealed to sight. |
