The invention concerns novel amide derivatives of the formula:- R<1>-Y-NR<2>-CHR<3>-X-CHR<1><1>-CHR<4>-CO-NR<5>-CR<6>R<1><6>-Q-R<1><0> wherein R<1>, R<2>, R<3>, R<4>, R<5>, R<6>, R<1><0>, R<1><1> and R<1><6> are various substituents defined hereinafter, Y is carbonyl, thiocarbonyl, sulphonyl or amido, X is carbonyl, hydroxymethylene, thiocarbonyl or oximinomethylene and Q is carbonyl or methylene, or a salt thereof, which are inhibitors of angiotensin converting enzyme and may be used for example, in the treatment of hypertension. The invention also provides pharmaceutical compositions of and processes for the manufacture of the novel amide derivatives. |
