The ignition device according to the invention is intended for engines in which the fuel-air mixture can be ignited by way of spark plugs. In order to produce the ignition spark a constant high voltage is provided to which all spark plugs of the engine are connected. In addition an electronic switch is connected to each spark plug on the input side, which switch obtains its control pulses directly from the engine electronics.
