Ceramic construction unit

The invention relates to a ceramic construction unit consisting essentially of burnt clay, which construction unit is intended to be used preferably for construction purposes. In order to increase the tensile strength of these units, they receive reinforcing inserts in the form of fibres resistant to high-temperatures and tensile loads which are embedded in one or more layers and should have a length of approximately 10-20 mm. The fibres can be arranged in an aligned, but also in an undulating, manner. Embedding is carried out via a layer of bonding agent.
