PURPOSE:To make up the lack of rolling capacity of a mill by installing a reciprocation-drive device, used for interposing a leveling piece capably of freely advancing and retreating in the direction of roll axis, between a lower roll chock and the bottom of a housing of an irreversible mill. CONSTITUTION:In a two-high irreversible mill having roll chocks 9a, 9b, supported freely movably in the vertical direction through a screw 20 and a hydraulic cylinder 11, in its housing 7; a reciprocation-drive device is provided, which advances and retreats a leveling piece 13, interposed between the chock 9b and a carriage 10 for drawing back the chock 9b, in the axial directions of rolls 8a, 8b. At the same time when the tail end of a rolling material passes through the rolls, the piece 13 is taken out by lifting the chock 9, and a roll table is reversely rotated in a state of lowering the chock 9, to return the material freely through the gap between the rolls 8a, 8b. Thereafter, the rolling is repeated by interposing the piece 13 and setting the draft of rolls 8a, 8b. In this way, the lack of capacity of the mill can be made up. |
