PURPOSE:To obtain a high density clear image having superior resolving power and high gradation reproducibility by forming a photoreceptive layer of an amorphous material contg. Si and Ge atoms so that the Ge atoms are ununiformly distributed in the thickness direction and by incorporating N atoms into the photoreceptive layer. CONSTITUTION:A photoreceptive layer 102 of an amorphous material contg. Si and Ge atoms so that the Ge atoms are ununiformly distributed in the thickness direction is formed on a support 101, and N atoms are incorporated into the layer 102. The layer 102 contains H and halogen (X) atoms. The Ge atoms is the layer 102 is distributed so that more Ge atoms are present on the support 101 side. The sensitivity of the layer 102 to light of wavelengths in the whole wavelength region including the visible light region can be increased by distributing the Ge atoms as mentioned above, and the adhesive strength of the layer 102 to the support 101 can be increased by incorporating the N atoms. Thus, a high- density clear image having superior resolving power and high gradation reproducibility is obtd., and long-time continuous repeated use at high speed is enabled. |
