NEW MATERIAL:The clathrate compound of alpha-tocopherol nicotinate lower alkyl halide or alpha-tocopherol isonicotinate lower alkyl halide and beta-cyclodextrin. USE:Useful as an alpha-tocopherol nicotinate (or isonicotinate) preparation. Since the compound forms a 1:1 ion pair of cholic acid in the digestive tract and the guest molecule comprising alpha-tocopherylcarbonyl-1-lower alkyl pyridinium halide, it can be absorbed through the intestines by oral administration. PREPARATION:The objective compound of formula I can be produced by dissolving alpha-tocopherylcarbonyl-1-lower alkyl-pyridinium halide and beta-cyclodextrin in water at room temperature or under mild heating, and adding an inorganic salt to the solution.
