PURPOSE:To efficiently manufacture T-beams in various sizes for various series through an on-line system, by rolling a rough shaped steel billet previously formed into an approximate T-shape with a mill group comprising a three-roll rolling mill and a three-roll edging mill arranged in series. CONSTITUTION:For example, a steel billet 5 in approximate T-shape is prepared through seven rolling passes practiced by a breakdown mill 10. Then, this billet 5 is rolled by a three-roll rolling mill, wherein a couple of upper vertical rolls 2, 2 rotating around parallel and vertical axes 1, 1 roll the billet 5 so as to form a rib, and a lower horizontal roll 4 rotating around a horizontal axis 3 rolls the billet 5 so as to form the flange. The upper edge of the rib is then edged by an upper horizontal roll 7, rotating around a horizontal axis 6, of a three-roll edging mill, and both edges of the flange are edged by a couple of lower vetical rolls 9, 9 rotating around horizontal axes 8, 8. Five rolling passes are practiced by this roughing mill group 13, and thereafter, three rolling passes are practiced by a similarly constituted finishing mill group 16; hereby, a product T-beam is finished up. |
