<p>Pretreatment under atmospheric pressure by alkaline wetting and thermal treatment of ground ores, the gangue of which consists of clay compounds which form a stable plastic suspension, and containing at least one metallic element which is recoverable by hydrometallurgy, for ease of separation of the liquid and solid phases, a) the ore, the granulometry of which is at most equal to the mesh for freeing the metallic element to be recovered is treated with at least 4 kg, expressed as OH<->, of alkaline agent per tonne of clay contained in the ore, b) the ratio of the liquid phase, expressed in cubic metres, to the solid phase, expressed in tonnes is at most equal to 1, c) pretreatment temperature is selected from the range of from 15 DEG C to 450 DEG C.</p> |
