FIBERS FILTER RODS

Filter rods for cigarettes are prepared from non-crystalline polyester fiber(A) by coupling the fiber with a plasticizer. (A) is a polyester composed of terephthalic acid or its ester-forming derivatives and glycol, such as 60-100 mol % of 1,2-propylene glycol or 0-40 mol % of ethylene glycol. (A) has a characteristic viscosity of more than 0.35 in a solvent mixture of phenol and tetrachloroethane under a specified concentration and at 25≦̸C and a glass transition temp. at a minimum 80≦̸C.
