PURPOSE:To permit the high-speed, clear printing of letter and mark as well as graphs and patterns by a method in which a thermal head and a pen printing mechanism are concurrently mounted on a carriage, and printing is made selectively by both the mechanisms. CONSTITUTION:When printing operations are made by a thermal head 5, an actuator 6 is moved to the direction of a platen 2 by attraction by a print magnet, and a pen 7a on the back side of the central dot of the head 5 is pressed. Printing of letters or marks is made by pressing the head 5 on a paper 9 on the platen 2 through a ribbon 8. On the other hand, when printing operations are made by the pen printing mechanism 7, a carriage 19, the head 5 and a ribbon cartride 16 are moved downwards by attraction of the lift magnet 18. After the color of a ball-point pen is selected, the actuator 6 is moved to the direction of the platen 2 by the attraction of the print magnet to push out the pen 7a, and the pen 7a is contacted on the paper 9 to print graphs or patterns. |
