PURPOSE:To prevent the partial removal of plating from a both-side plated steel sheet and to improve the commodity value by placing electrodes to supply electric current to both edges of one side of the steel sheet in the lateral direction and by electrolytically removing metal from the other side. CONSTITUTION:A cathode plate 2 confronting a plated steel strip 1 as an anode is placed in an electrolytic cell, the cell is filled with an electrolytic soln., and the strip 1 is introduced. Electric current is supplied to both edges 5 of one side of the strip 1 in the lateral direction from electrodes 13 placed by the edges 5. The flow of electric current from the edges 5 to the plate 2 is controlled to prevent the removal of plating from one side 4. Thus, the partial removal of the metallic plating 4 is prevented, and the commodity value of the strip is improved.
