PURPOSE:To simplify the mechanism of a thermal transfer type printer as well as reduce the cost of the printer by a method in which a small-sized thermal head of a small recording area is attached to a pressing mechanism mounted on a carriage, and an ink film 2 for transfer is sent in one way by a feed roller. CONSTITUTION:When a power source switch is turned on, a rotary solenoid 52 is operated, a pressing mechanism 20 is turned in the opposite direction to the direction of arrow B, and a thermal head 15 is separated from the surface of a recording paper 1. At the same time, a carriage 16 is returned to the home position. When a sending signal for an ink film 2 for transfer is inputted, a feed roller 43 is turned to send the ink film 2. When the color of recording signal is judged and the rotary solenoid 52 is returned, the recording paper 1 is pressed by the thermal head 15. At the same time, a control motor 19 is operated by sending signal of the carriage 16, and when the carriage 16 reaches the starting position of recording, recording signal is inputted and recording is made on the recording paper 1. |
