PURPOSE:To obtain a slider material which has the small coefft. of friction and permits easy control of the coefft. of thermal expansion by forming the slider material of a prescribed compd. compsn. consisting of Fe2O3, ZrO2 and SiO2. CONSTITUTION:The slider material for a magnetic head is constituted with 80-98mol% Fe2O3, 1-10mol% ZrO2 and 1-10mol% SiO2. Since the material consists essentially of Fe2O3, the control of the coefft. of thermal expansion is easy therewith. The coefft. of friction can be decreased by adding ZrO2 thereto but the effect is not enough if the content of ZrO2 is <=1mol% and the sintering is infeasible if the content exceeds 10mol%. SiO2 is added thereto as a sintering assistant and if the content of SiO2 is <=1mol%, the sintering is infeasible in some case. The porosity increases if the content is >=10mol% and therefore 1-10mol% content is adequate. |
