PURPOSE:To form a uniform thin layer of a developer on a developing roll by regulating a developer which flows round between an elastic body blade and the developing roll according to the potential and polarity given to the elastic body blade by voltage application. CONSTITUTION:An electric power source 48 is provided to apply a voltage to the elastic body blade 46, and while the layer thickness of a developer T carried in between the blade 46 and developing roll 35 with the blade 46 applied with the voltage by the power source 48, the developer layer is formed on the roller 35 and stuck to a photosensitive body 2 to perform development. The blade 36 is pressed elastically against the surface of the roller 35, a semiconductor material is used for the press-contacting part, and the developer T carried in between the blade and the roller 35 is charged electrostatically by the voltage application of the power source 48. A blade 36, on the other hand, has >=2 laminated layers, i.e. an insulating layer 46A and a conductive layer 46B while the conductive layer 46B is on the surface side where the blade is not pressed against the roller 35, and the power source is connected to generate a potential having the same polarity with the developer. The blade 36 and the roller 35 are arranged at an interval opposite to each other, and the surface consists of an insulated electrode member and an elastic material which is pressed elastically against the surface of the roller 35; and the power source is connected to the electrode member and a voltage having the opposite polarity of the developer is applied. |
