The subject of the present invention is a method and a device for reducing residual tensile forces of a mechanical part, for example on the internal wall of a roll-expanded tube 2 in the region of the transition zone between the deformed and non-deformed portion of the tube. In order to do this, the internal wall of the tube 2 is struck by means of weights 20 fixed to a support 18 which is itself mounted on the end of a rotationally movable rod 16; the latter can be mounted eccentrically on a support ring 14 which is itself set into a rotational movement about the axis of the the tube 2 so as to carry out a complete sweep of the zone to be treated.
