<p>NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula (R is H, benzyl, benzohydryl, t-butyl or silyl; A is amino acid residue which may have protected amino group) or its salt. EXAMPLE:D-O-(L-Alanyl)mandelic acid benzyl ester. USE:Useful as an acylation agent. It is used for the production of cephalosporin and penicillin by the acylation of 7-aminocephalosporinic acid and 6-aminopenicillanic acid. PREPARATION:The objective compound of formula can be produced either by reacting mandelic acid with a reactive derivative of an amino acid (which may have protected amino group) at the carboxyl group, or by esterifying the mandelic acid reacting with an amino acid or its reactive derivative (which may have protected amino group), and if necessary, removing the protecting group.</p> |
