An exemplary sensor preferably comprises an ISFET and an FET whose output signals are evaluated by a differential circuit and optionally a differentiating circuit. As reference electrode, the ISFET measures the generally slow change in the ion concentration of a solution, while the FET is connected as a potential electrode referred thereto. Such a mechanically robust sensor which can be constructed inexpensively makes it possible to detect, in particular, abrupt changes in the redox potential, for example during neutralisation of effluent water.
