The invention relates to a device for printing apparatuses for the separating of endless paper, in particular fanfold paper, having a paper-transporting mechanism and a cutting device, which is controlled by means of a scanner. For sensing a control mark, subdividing the fanfold paper into lists of various length, an electrooptic scanning device is provided upstream of the cutting device in the transporting direction. This scanning device is linked to a logic control arrangement comprising data memory, pattern memory and comparing device, which arrangement activates the cutting device with a delay corresponding to the rate of advancement if the control mark with a structure in bar form, sensed by the scanning device, coincides with a model control mark stored in the pattern memory.
