Processes and devices for carrying out the processes for operating a combination, consisting of a farm tractor and of a plough connected to the farm tractor by means of a mounting device, whilst taking into account the position of the ideal guide point of the plough, are described. In order selectively to allow ploughing with a low fuel consumption or a vanishing torque about the vertical axis passing through the driving-axle mid-point (T), it is proposed, for example, that, starting from a predeterminable limit value ( alpha g) for the angle of the front wheels (5), locked for countersteering, of the farm tractor the ideal guide point (F) of the plough (13) is displaced towards the furrow (24) at an angle of lock ( alpha ) of the front wheels (5) below the limit value ( alpha g) and is displaced away from the furrow (24) at an angle of lock ( alpha ) of the front wheels (5) above this limit value ( alpha g). The displacement of the ideal guide point (F) is carried out, during travel, by means of an adjusting member of variable length which is controlled by a circuit (25) processing the predetermined limit value ( alpha g) and the instantaneous angle of lock ( alpha ) of the front wheels (5). <IMAGE>
