Smokeless burner comprises an inner chamber divided by one or more partitions into a charging shaft and one or more combustion chambers which are supplied with secondary air and in each of which is mounted one or more chamber walls for conducting the gases of combustion. A grate extends beneath the charging shaft and the combustion chambers, and at the periphery of the burner is a closed shaft which connects the top of the charging shaft to the combustion chambers and which conducts incompletely burned gases. In each combustion chamber is at least one component for introducing secondary air, which extends at right angles to the grate and has lateral holes. Both this component and the chamber walls are interchangeable. The chamber walls are ribbed or undulating in horizontal section.
