The alkoxylated alkali lignin is esterified or carboxy methyl-ated. Esterification can be carried out by sulphation to ethersulphate with sulphur trioxide, oleum, sulphuric acid or chlorosulphonic acid. Alternatively it can be done by phosphation to ether phosphate with polyphosphoric acid, phosphorous pentoxide or phosphoric acid. Carboxy methylation can be carried out by reacting with chloracetic acid. |
