Macrolides, photochemical process for their preparation and their use as intermediates and as chemotherapeutics

Compounds are described of the formulae I, II and III <IMAGE> - in which R is hydrogen or C1-C4-alkyl and n is 2-16. They are obtained by irradiation of compounds of the formula IV <IMAGE> with light of wavelength between 300 and 400 nm in aprotic solvents in the presence of nitrogen bases.
