The device (1) for the loading of dried fodder serves for conveying dry material from a field dryer (5) into a transport container (7). In a known hay loader, tine rakes drag the fodder obliquely upwards on a wooden floor and cause it to slide off into the truck by way of a chute. Losses caused by crumbling occur while the fodder is sliding on the known hay loader. The loading device according to the invention consists of a band conveyor (2) assigned a pick-up (3) which encloses a space. The ceiling (18) of the pick-up (3) begins as a sliding surface for the dried fodder at the front on the floor (14) of the pick-up (3), rests at the rear on the back wall (17) and merges into a projection (19) which terminates above the band conveyor (2). The ceiling (18) has horizontally arranged rows of slots (20), through which air flows out of the interior of the pick-up (3) and causes the dried fodder to slide over the ceiling (18) in a slightly suspended manner. The fodder experiences no losses caused by crumbling on its path from the pick-up (3) by way of the band conveyor (2) and cross-conveyor (4) into the transport container (7). <IMAGE>
