In the plate transporter (1), the work plate (4) is underpinned by a girder section (3), is lifted by lever arms (6) and is moved to the work place. The tilting frame (5), against which the work plate (4) is leaned, is then pivoted via hinges (14) in such a way that the work plate (4) moves into a horizontal position. By lowering of the tilting frame (5), the work plate (4) comes to rest on pedestals (15), and the plate transporter (1) can be pulled out from underneath. <IMAGE>
