1327135 Oscillating machines SIEMENS AG 28 Oct 1971 [17 Nov 1970] 50043/71 Heading H2A A method of adjusting the air gap in an electromagnetic drive device, such as a sound generator, having an oscillating armature consisting of a flat strip 13 with pole faces 14 at opposite ends comprises adjusting the positions of the planes of the pole faces by deformation of the armature so as to change its cross-sectional configuration in a region between the pole faces. The deformation may be effected by gripping the armature between the jaws of a pliers-like tool which jaws are slightly off-set with respect to each other and one of which forms a transverse groove in the armatures Fig. 2 (not shown). Alternatively, as shown in Fig. 3, a tool 10 may form creases 11 in a transverse stiffening rib 12 on the armature. In a further alternative arrangement, the creases are pre-formed in the armature and flattened by the tool. The tool may have a step so that the adjustment can be carried out in a series of small uniform steps. |
