PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic head having stable reproducing characteristics, high output and high efficiency and removing the dispersion of respective tracks by forming magnetic layers constituting a magnetic circuit with two layers consisting of specific materials and magnetizing the 2nd layer in the track width direction. CONSTITUTION:A magneto-resistance effect type magnetic head consists of a magnetic base body 1, an insulating layer 2, a bias magnetic filed generating current means 3, an insulating layer 4, an MR element 5, an insulating layer 6, magnetic layers 7, 8 constituting a magnetic circuit, a gap spacer layer 9, a magnetic gap (g), an uncontinuous part 11, an insulating protective layer 12, and a protective substrate 14 adhered by a bonding agent 13. The magnetic layers 7, 8 are constituted of the 1st and 2nd layers 21, 22. The magnetic layers 21, 22 are formed by a magnetic material having low magnetic resistance and quick magnetic saturation and a magnetic material having high magnetic resistance or a single axis anisotropic material respectively and the layer 22 is magnetized in the track width direction. The layer 21 is magnetized in the track width direction by the weak magnetic field of the layer 22, so that the magnetic permiability of the layers 7, 8 in the magnetic path direction is increased and stable reproducing characteristics, high output and high efficiency are attained. |
