High boiling solvent system for recovery of acetic acid from aqueous solutions.

摘要

A process for separating acetic acid from a moderately dilute aqueous solution by subjecting the said solution to an extraction treatment in the liquid phase with a high boiling solvent for acetic acid to extract the acid from the aqueous solution. In a second stage water is distilled from the extract followed by a third stage wherein waterfree-extract is distilled to separate the acid and solvent. The high boiling solvent is a solvent system comprising a preponderant amount of a 7-carbon aliphatic ketone.
