<p>A process for the hydrolysis at high pressures and temperatures of organic matter with a ligno- cellulose content, particularly ground wood, bagasse and corn on the cob waste comprises three steps, whereby the fractions of the organic matter, namely pentoses, lignin and hexoses are separated from one another in succession in separate steps in the process. Both prehydrolysis for separating out the pentoses and the main hydrolysis process for separating out the hexoses are performed at elevated temperatures and pressures with a high degree of mechanical treatment in a dispersing reactor. The resulting sugars are prevented from dissociating by means of rapid cooling by flash evaporation. The ligno-cellulose aggregate, freed of pentoses. is conveyed off for further splitting in order to remove the lignin after which the remaining organic matter, comprised overwhelmingly of cellulose, is submitted to the main hydrolysis process as a result of which highly concentrated glucose is extracted for the production of ethyl alcohol.</p> |
