<p>The Diesel engine has at least one cylinder which can be used, as required, either as an engine or as an air compressor. When its extra valve (33) is closed, the cylinder (1) works normally as an engine. When the vehicle slows down, the valves (24), (43) close. The rocker arm (5) of another engine cylinder opens the valve (33) at the end of the compression stroke, while the distributor (12) cuts off the injection. The compressed air is stored in the tanks (38), (39). Use in eliminating an auxiliary compressor and the corresponding power losses.</p> |
