PURPOSE:To detect aging of a belt located in a belt cover without removing said cover by providing a member havin the material quality same as that of a timing belt or similar thereto. CONSTITUTION:A timing belt 1 is wound around a crank shaft sprocket 2 and a cam shaft sprocket 4, and housed in a belt cover 10. A retainer 11 is formed in the belt cover 10, and a detector 12 is removably mounted thereon. The detector 12 is composed of thermally aging member 13 mounted on a body 14, the material quality of said thermally aging member 13 being the same rubber as that of the timing belt 1 or a similar one thereto. Hereby, it is possible to check the aging of the timing belt at any time, preventing an engine from being damaged. |
