MANUFACTURE OF MOLTEN STEEL DEPHOSPHORIZING AGENT

PURPOSE:To manufacture inexpensively a molten steel dephosphorizing agent made of sodium silicate by utilizing molten slag which is produced as a by-product when molten iron is desiliconized as a silicic acid feeding source. CONSTITUTION:Molten iron 2 in a molten iron charging pan 1 is desiliconized by blowing a disiliconizing agent. Slag produced by the desiliconization is introduced into a kneader 5, a sodium compound 7 contg. oxygen is added, and they are mixed and slowly cooled. The resulting slag contg. sodium silicate in a slag pan 14 is crushed, and iron is magnetically separated and removed to obtain a molten steel dephosphorizing agent.
