PURPOSE:To prevent a heat build-up and to improve the responsiveness and sustained operation of a suspension system which is capable of switching its characteristics by solenoid valves by an arrangement in which the solenoid valves are fed with large and small amounts of electric current for a predetermined duration respectively so that the characteristics may be controlled to be ''hard'' when activated, and ''soft'' when the valves are released. CONSTITUTION:Signals from a vehicle sensor 2 and other input information INPUT are inputted to a CPU22 to be memorized in a memory 23, and at the same time a command signal V2 for switching the suspension system characteristics is outputted to an output circuit 24. In this instance, the output V2 outputs the ''H'' output for a first predetermined duration T1, and then is switched to the pulse output for a second duration. Therefore, the output circuit 24 applies the full voltage to solenoid valves 4, 8 for the first duration T1 to allow a large amount of electric current to flow in the solenoid valves 4, 8 for switching to a high speed mode, and then the pulse voltage takes over to reduce the electric current necessary only for maintaining the solenoid valves. In this manner, a heat build-up can be prevented, the responsiveness and sustained operation can be improved, and the operating range of voltage can be expanded. |
