ELECTROLYZING METHOD OF METAL

PURPOSE:To refine electrolytically a metal without requiring laborious operation by dipping a metallic plate which is formed with an electrical insulating part at four circumferential edges except a part of edges attached with hangers to electrodeposit a metallic layer thereon then lowering the liquid surface and performing further the electrodeposition. CONSTITUTION:Looped hangers 2 are attached to one edge of a square flat metallic plate 1. An electrical insulating part 3 is formed on both surfaces in a part of said edge as well as the other three edges. A release agent is coated on both surfaces where the insulating part 3 is not formed and the steel plate is dipped in an electrolyte. Electrodeposition is then performed by maintaining the liquid surface at the level I . The electrolyte surface is thereafter lowered to the level IIand the electrolysis is performed to electrodeposit the metal on the plate. The electrodeposited matter is mechanically stripped together with the metallic layer. This method is applied for electolytic refining or copper, nickel, etc. The plate 1 from which the electrodeposited matter is removed is repeatedly usable.
