A process by which the head and intestines of fish are removed when they are fed laterally forward by a conveyor (10). The fish is cut near the head by a cutting device (13) and then pressed upon at the stomach area until the intestines (21) are pressed out of the neck opening. The intestines are then pinched between a circular, rotating body (24) and a flexible component (22) that work together to extract the intestines from the fish (12) fed forth on the conveyor. On a machine designed for this procedure, the circular body (24) is situated alongside the conveyor (10) with its perimeter near the level of the fish (12) intestines (21) and its rotation axle set below the conveyor plane.<IMAGE> |
