PURPOSE:To enhance overall photographic characteristics by forming substrate and a photoreceptive layer consisting of the first layer contg. Ge and the second conductive layer contg. Si on the substrate, incorporating O and a conduction controller in this photoreceptive layer, and specifying the max. value of these concn. distribution. CONSTITUTION:A photoreceptive layer 102 is composed of Si as an essential constituent, and amorphous a-Si(H,X) contg. one of H and halogen (X). A photoconductive member having the photoconductive photoreceptive layer 102 exhibits remarkably excellent characteristics in practical uses, especially for use in an electrophotographic photoconductive member, because it is superior in absorption characteristics in the long wavelength region, and an image high in density and resolution can be obtained. The layer 102 contains O and substance for controlling conduction characteristics, and the second layer region of the layer 102 contains this substance in a concn. distribution higher on the side of the substrate 101 in the film thickness direction. |
