PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF PHTHALIC ESTER

Phthalic acid esters(I) used as plasticizers are prepared from phthalic acid(II) by means of reaction with fatty alcohol in the presence of a catalyst(III) at 160-180≦̸C, where R,R1 = C4-C13 linear or branched chain aliphatic alkyl gp.; R2,R3 = C1-C8 linear or branched chain aliphatic alkyl gp.; and the fatty alcohol is selected from C4-C13 linear or branched chain alcohol. The catalyst is prepared from dialkyl stannic oxide by reaction with paratoluene sulfonic acid.
