PURPOSE:To decide the side of an original speedily and also know whether an original set properly or not by providing plural sensors for original detection to a copying machine equipped with an original feeding device at specific distances at right angles to the conveyance direction of the original. CONSTITUTION:The sensors 21-24 for original detection are arranged at distances corresponding to original sizes, e.g. B4, A4, B5, and A5 from a reference position 31 at right angles to the conveyance direction of the original 13. When this original is inserted manually into the machine, the levels of output signals of those sensors 21-22 are utilized to decide the size of the original. Further, it is decided on whether the conveyance state of the original 13 is normal or not from the output signal levels of the sensors 21-24 and from whether there is difference in the detection timing of the original 13 among the sensors 21-24. When it is decided that the original 13 is not conveyed properly, an original re- setting signal 55 is outputted. |
